Vw polo 3 cylinder

Hi guys i have a problem with a 2011 1.2 s Polo (3 cylinder) and wonder if anyone can shed light on this shed.

The timing chain jumped a tooth and a new chain was fitted.

The problem is when starting from cold, as soon as you blip the throttle within the first 30 secs of ignition the revs go up and down automatically until the car eventually dies. If the car is warmed up its ok but can feel a slight surge in the seat from the idle. The car drives fine.

All vacuum hoses are tight, all earth cables have good contact, and snap on solus computer showing NO codes!!

Its had a new cam sensor, coolant temp sensor, and throttlebody. Still the same.

Mega frustrating.

Sounds like something to do with inlet air control on warm-up, I’d suspect something like a inlet air control valve / sensor or coolant temperature sensor.

Thanks for your reply, coolant temp sensor was replaced yesterday, no joy, why would the car not throw a code if a component was faulty?

Because maybe it isnt faulty enough to throw a code.

And are you sure this new chain has been fitted correctly, and there was no damage done from when it jumped teeth ?

Had it been running fine prior to this ? What has the garage said who did the work ?

Incorrect cam to crank correlation can cause this very issue (no fault codes) seen this before can be backed with map/vacuum figures or scoped cam and crank relation real time/live data , a job for a competent DIY'er or workshop
