Hi all,

Two weeks ago I had my mk4 golf 1.9 TDi pd150 in for a full service and timing check as I'd been having hot start up issues. Everything was all in order with the timing the only thing the garage claimed to of spotted was a split in the CV boot.

On the following Monday & Tuesday after work i noticed I had a leak on the floor. Opened the bonnet and seen 2 fuel pipes on the fuel filter were pushed back and leaking. Pushed them back up on the nozzle but still leaked.

Went back to the garage they kindly changed the fuel pipes and put on new hose clips. The leaking was solved but only from these pipes, it carried on leaking but from the check valve "T connector". Went back to the garage, took the "T" out put a bit of grease around the O rings which wernt perished nor the plastic cracked. Finally stopped the leak!

Went to work this Monday, got on the motorway and around 10 mins in to the drive the car went in limp mode lost all power and pulled over. Couldn't start it strait away because of the hot start issue. Got round to starting it and drove absolutely fine.

Same thing happened again on Thursday morning on the motorway but as I just got on to it. Let it cool down, started up but the engine sounded rough like a knocking noise. Stopped the car to investigate and the fuel filter was steaming. Left the car for half hour it was a cold morning, started it up but drove pretty lumpy for around 2 minutes didn't have any boost. Eventually just picked up as if nothing happened.

Left it all day and started up after work. Ran fine with no noise as if it was all mythical. Made no sense? Took it up my road but heavy footed and again went in to limp mode, knocking engine and steam from fuel filter. Went to take it back to the garage but they've now shut down and I'm not sure what to from here?

So it had a "full service"...and was returned with leaking fuel pipes ?

It doesnt sound like it should be they "kindly replaced"...I'd be asking WTF they did that caused them to need replaced and why they left a car back with fuel pipes in a poor or improperly fitted condition ?

And the hot start issue was there before these people touched your car, and still afterward ? Where they asked to investigate causes ? Is it a proper garage with competent people in it ?

Does it crank fast, slow, make any attempt to start ? etc etc
