2006 ASTRA design 1.8 16v won't start
Discussion
Hi
After some help as never worked on an Astra before. Wife drove the car to work fine but on approach to a round about the car cut out. Won't restart. Mechanic came out turn the engine once then said the cambelt has snapped.
Got the car home and looked to change cambelt only to find cambelt is fine and not snapped. I've checked to make sure spark plugs are fine and they all function when in the housing assembly (forgive terms if not correct).
Fuel is getting to the injectors as I got sprayed checking this so I assume its not fuel pump or filter.
I don't know what to check next? If fuel is getting to the engine and cambelt is not broken can I assume timing is not out?

Have you actually removed bottom drive pulley and complete cam covers to check cam belt, if youve only removed top cover its possible teeth are stripped at crank pulley but belt still in one piece.
The mechanic has done what any reasonable mechanic would do, hes turned the engine over and from experience can tell there is no compression , the two most common faults to suddenly cause this would be broken cam belt or excessive overheating but overheating would leave plenty of other obvious signs.

Having fuel pressure on the fuel line does not mean the PCM is activating the injectors. After some help as never worked on an Astra before. Pull off an injector electrical connector and see if you have battery voltage on one of the wires with the ignition on.
