I have the above which comes up with engine speed fault. I have changed both cam and crank sensors with genuine replacements.

I've also changed the fuel filter, timing belt & water pump and the clutch / dmf. It also has a new battery now.

When the car starts it runs spot on. However it doesn't run for long. It doesn't go into limp mode it just cuts out.

What else can i look at for this fault?

I'll be giving the cam an adjustment tomorrow to see if that improves things.

????????

Try checking for air in the fuel lines first, likely you have some seal leaking air in and cutting it out.

I went back to it today. There are no fuel or air leaks. No funny noises. I adjusted the cam timing with no improvement.

I took a couple of readings on some plugs as i have a fault code now of p0726 engine speed.

This was there back when it first failed a while ago. I have new g40 & g28 sensors fitted that are genuine.

I have perfect readings on the g40 plug. The g28 plug however reads as following with the ignition on (can't test when running) pin 1 0.0v. pin 2 4.85v. pin 3 0.0 v.

I suspect pin 1 would read with engine running.

My next suspicion is one of the fuel pumps. I can get the car to idle fine for a while. If i drive it it then cuts out. My thinking is fuel pressure insifficient. The lift pump in the tank can be heard priming when the ignition goes on.

I think i will have to get it to garage for a pressure test.

It's a pulse generator, so the signal will be relative to the engine position.

It may also not be voltage based.
