Hi all, first post in here.

I have Ford Escort mk2 with 2 liters 8v engine(Pinto/OHC) and twin 45 DHLA Dellortos. BP285 cam, std valves, injection head (flowed myself), 10.5:1 compression, Ashley exhaust manifold and 2" exhaust. I think it has about 150hp max.
When I`m cruising in steady gas pedal it is ok (lambda 0.9-0.8). When put gas pedal on the floor it`s good thru the every gear (lambda steady about 0.9). But when I accelerate slowly it goes immediatly lean (lambda 1.1) and goes better when past 5000rpm. When it is lean and I push gas pedal fast it helps so there is fuel in fuel bowl I think.

Idle holder .1
Idle jet 60 (was 55 but 60 is slightly better in light acceleration)
Mixture screws out 4 rounds
Emulsion tube .5
Air corrector 180
Main jet 160 (was 150 but 160 is better in light acceleration)
Viton needle valves
Fuel height 27mm +-0.5 from top of jet tower (http://sideways-technologies.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/1048-setting-dhla-dellorto-dellorto-float-fuel-level/)

Is that because too big throats, I think I should go 38mm to 36mm?
Or maybe I`ll try to raise fuel level 0.5 or 1mm.

I checked the fuel level again and adjusted floats closer to gasket 0.5mm. There is now 16mm between floats and gasket. Light acceleration is little bit better. Opened mixture screws half turn, now 4.5 turns out. Lambda is now clearly better but not much. Won`t drob below 1.05 (was 1.1). Is there something wrong or is my engine really thirsty with 38mm throats?

I’d be going with a .6 or .2 idle jet holder.. this shoull cover lean spots on acceleration during progression and transition to main circuit.

Thanks Dave.
I have .8 holders and they are richer than .1 I think. Maybe I test them first.

Here is the table..

Weaker Normal Rich

7850.5 .10 .9 .4 .1 .3 .6 .7 .2 .8

The ones in normal use are 7850.1, 7850.6 , 7850.2 and 7850.8.

.8 is very rich..

.8 and 60 idles were too rich for sure. I changed new gaskets between carbs and intake manifold. I put .1 and 55 idles, changed acc jets 40 ---> 50 so I can add fuel when engine goes lean and hesitates. Better now, not good but I can live with it. I also found air leaking to cyl 2 (and 3 but this is minor) between butterfly shaft and carb body. Is there any gasket in the bearing?
