do gears ever come as matched pairs?
Discussion
Hi,
My 1st post, As above: I`m rebuilding a Ford type 9 gearbox and have new, gen. Ford, driving and driven 5th gears, bought separately. I now see them on ebay sold as a `matched pair.` Are they ever supplied sort of `batch selected` (like transistors) or is this just advertising bull.?
Steve
Are there any other categories in forum which would be more appropriate?

Thanks for your reply, pretty much what I thought. The `matched` ones BTW are also new in their Ford boxes - thinking about it, if they WERE matched pair, surely Ford would have sold as such , ie in the same package, not different boxes which could get separated. I think you`re right. I never like to assume I know anything though, usualy bites me on the arse!!!.
