Fiesta ST180 Hybrid Turbo
Discussion
Hi guys,
I'm currently building a Stage 3 but I'm not yet sure on what hybrid turbo to get. I'm mostly set on an X47R from Pumaspeed but I am also debating a 350R turbo made by Sabre Tuning near Castle Coombe. The X47R is definitely the best bang for buck in my opinion however lots of different dynos around the UK have shown X47R powered STs not making their claimed power. In contrast I could just go for the Sabre 350R turbo but I'd need to buy a brand new 3" cobra when I've only just gotten a Milltek cat back and the turbo, mapping and uprated injectors come to £2500 which is a lot of money if that doesn't include things like the exhaust.
I'm not against other turbos such as the BB-04, VT330R etc. I just want to know if there's anyone on here that has a hybrid turbo ST and what turbo you're running. I'd love to know what you guys have and think of the power. Thanks

If ultimate power is what you want then regardless of turbo you pick your exhaust will become the limiting factor at some point.
Wheel or Hub dynos are never 100% accurate some will show more power at the engine than others its just the nature of how they work. Its probably too late now but best thing to do is get a baseline on one dyno when the car is standard and then continue to monitor the changes in power as you do mods on the same dyno that way you know the delta in power that your changes are having.
Sabre are very highly regarded for what they do, why not give them a call and discuss what exhaust you have and the best way forward, Another option might be to change the down pipe going into the cat to have a transition from 3" at the Turbo tapering down to match the rest of the system?
My advice is not to chase BHP numbers

Hi Bruce, I do like my milltek but I was thinking of changing to a Cobra one day anyway, the only thing stopping me is the possible drone and I have elderly neighbors and don't want to annoy them. But If there's options to possibly alter my current system then I'll happily look into them. Yeah I don't want to chase numbers cause I may end up being disappointed if my car doesn't make the power others have. But I am aiming for anything over 300 (320-340 would be awesome)

Any potential to recoupe some of that by selling off the kit of nearly new hardware, maybe even with the custom map if you have access to that?
Possibly, it's just who is realistically going to want a used Milltek cat back? Even if there was, I don't think I'd recoup much unfortunately
