Mapping out ad blue

Has anyone ever had a map done on vehicle to map out the ad blue system ?
A friends car needs a new ad blue sensor, not sure what one. The mechanics said the systems are rubbish. He can fix it but the sensor alone is around the 400 pound mark.
He suggested having it mapped out?. States several companies do it.
Says will not affect anything else etc or be an issue for emissions come MOT time.
Anyone experience with this?
