I was given an inlet manifold and two carburettors - which I took to be for a Rover V8 3.5. BUT - the part number is strange - it is ERC D242 (not sure of the D or the 4) from what i can make out. It also has DD1 or DDI on it. Who can tell what V8 it goes on. I wondered whether it could be for an Ilanga or a P76. Both these cars were made in Australia in 1973 - 1975. I live in Australia. Only two of the Ilinga cars were made - and the P76 was only built for one year. Who can solve my problem?

Hi
Certainly ERC was used for Rover V8 engines. Most were fitted with twin SU carbs but early Range Rovers had Zenith/Strombergs fitted. The P76 4.4 litre engine had an increased deck height and so would have a slightly "Wider" inlet manifold to the 3.5 engines.
