Hello people

Need some advice I have a 2009 Mercedes clc petrol

In the last couple of weeks I've noticed the temperature gauge is slightly above half way image attached . Also if I turn on the car fan system and the controls are switched to cold the car will blow hot air through the vents until I put ac on is this normal?

I have also noticed that the car engine is very hot ! When you open the bonnet it's very hot

Any ideas

Apologies I'm a bit of a car amateur!

Normal.
Your car seems to be running at about 90 degrees which is fine. If it gets hotter and towards the red zone (120) then fans should start to cool it back down to where it is now.

Without the A/C switched on the coldest air the car can blow at you is the outside air, which at the moment is not (30 degrees!). If you want colder air then turn on the A/C.
If you have climate control then you could leave the A/C on all the time or even better use the Auto setting if you have one and then just adjust the temperature to what is comfortable.

Car engine will be hot after a drive, especially when air temperatures are at 30 degrees.
