Hi there,

I know this could be a case of how long is a piece of string. But looking at getting the rings changed on my noble m12 as have had blow by for quite a while now(no noticeable drop in performance though).Any of you experts there how involving is it a job to do ? I suspect the lump will have to be pulled to do it.I am just trying to get an idea timescale wise I would be looking at roughly for a competent mechanic to take to do this job.

And how have you determined "blow by" and at what level ?

New rings is pretty much a total engine strip and rebuild. Not a small task by any means.

Time will rarely be quick, what if anything is else found when it is apart ?, time to remove, disassemble and inspect, source parts, have any machining work done and then rebuild etc. Various lead times there at best.

In a Utopia it could all happen in a few days, in reality likely a few weeks.
