(engine off) does it hurt the gearbox to shift w/out clutch?

My friend was sitting in my car and having a feel of the gearbox. The engine was off the whole time and she was shifting the gear without the clutch at all Did it damage/hurt the transmission? because I am think the dog clutch doesn't usually line up perfectly to the gear slot and without the clutch allowing the gear to freely rotate when the dog clutch smashes in, it is got to be hurting gearbox right? What do you guys think?

I guess this also applies when shifting into 1st/ reverse gear after parking the car on a hill.

It makes no difference. De-clutching only disengages the engine from the gearbox - the engine is not running, so you don’t have any torque input.

Don’t worry about it.

It will be ruined. Have the transmission removed and sent to a specialist immediately, for some new air gaps and a fresh set of dogs to replace the broken ones. Staffys preferably, they're quite resilient but still relatively compact so they should fit no problem.

Sell it immediately to WBAC without telling them of the impending catastrophic transmission failure and go buy an automatic .
