04 Micra -Gearbox issues

Hi all,

Totally new to this forum but known about the site for year.

I currently have an 04 plate automatic micra, been advised to replace the gearbox by a mechanic but been quoted near 2K.

I absolutely love the car but think the price is a bit steep.

Just looking to see if you all agree or can maybe offer other solutions.

No expert on gearbox changes but a quick google around seems to suggest it's ballpark, depending on what box you're getting (used, refurb or new etc)

Worth getting a few more quotes/opinions though.

At 2k it's a large part of the value of the car. So unless you're really attached for personal reasons I'd be looking to sell the car on and maybe buying a slightly newer one if you have any spare cash and really like Micras.
If it has to be auto then choice is a bit more limited I guess.
