Engine noise Fiat Grande Punto 1.2

Hey All,

Complete novice here.

Timing belt and water pump replaced when car was purchased a year ago.

Any idea what this is?

Hard to tell from the clip, but my first guess would be a noisy belt tensioner or bearings in the alternator or other belt driven accessory.

Take the aux belt off and see if it stops. If it doesn't it's probably cambelt and you should turn it off and leave it off until sorted.

Took the alt belt off. Started car, no noise.

I have a feeling a bearing in the alternator has gone.

While the belt's off, give the alternator a spin with your fingers, you should be able to hear/feel any roughness.
