Many (most?) modern cars have this feature where you touch the indicator stalk once but the indicators flash three times...

Can this be dialled out by an electronics specialist? Equivalent to a remap of the bcm or whatever? On any vehicle?

Just something that drives me mad - plenty of times I want just one flash... and it's something that could put me off buying a car.

Thanks

Any really..

Fortunately my current and past cars only do one flash - but was looking at the Ioniq 5 N, and (it's opposite!) Merc E63 estates...

Thanks

That only happens with a light touch if you fully engage the indicator it will flash as much or as little as you want.

I like the feature, it's handy for lane changes.

Yes if it’s got a easy to use OBD app, VAG for instance you can change “one touch flash” to 1, 3 or 5

Ioniq 5 does 3 flash from what I remember.

Appreciate that - but it sort of goes against the 'short cut' of an easy one flash...

That could be a deal breaker, unless there's a way round it.

Think you can change the settings on the dash in most vag stuff.

Can't remember off the top of my head. Why is it a deal breaker?

I just feel one flash is enough in so many situations - passing a cyclist, or coming off a mini roundabout - where the manoeuvre is over before the second indicator flash.

Or where it can imply intention to make a right turn, when you're momentarily crossing the central line. Or returning to s left lane in empty space - just purer and more economical.

Couple that with some ocd if it helps ?

There is a VERY easy way round it.

Fully switch on & then off the desired indicator after one flash.

The "3/5 flash" shortcut ONLY happens with a light push rather than full engage of the indicator switch.

first world problems.

Buy an old car then.

Really, that would be one of the least worries about the st that's in some new cars.

side note but having just come back from driving a very basic new car abroad i found it very frustrating not to have that feature, every time i changed lanes i remembered how inbuilt into muscle memory it is to have the 3 flash feature. one of those things turns out i really like.

It does seem a bit odd to base your decision on whether to buy a particular car or not on this particular feature smile
