EML Light..advice required
Discussion
Car EML on.
Two stored codes: U010B84: Communication with the Exhaust Gas REcirculation controller (cylinder bank 2) has a malfunction. There is a signal below the permissable value.
U040C08: Implausible data were received from the exhaust gas recirculation controller (cylinder bank 2). There is a signal fault or the message is faulty.
So far:
Cleared the codes: they come back on, not instantly but quickly
Garage has reset EGR values: code came back
Inspection at main dealer: Nothing found, wanted more time.
AClass W177 A200D.
any help appreciated with what the issue coudl be.

The BIG question is.........
It could mean they opened the bonnet & yes, there is an EGR installed.
Or it could mean a lot more.
Without knowing the answer I certainly wouldn't be able to help more than to say, perhaps it needs more than "an inspection".

Sounds like a wiring issue or a connector which is disconnected, or corroded. Or a power issue. Since the garage you took it to hasn't diagnosed it, it needs diagnosing properly. If its been to 2 garages and they haven't done it, I don't fancy my chances of bettering them by the owner posting a questions on an internet forum.

They did diagnostics. Got the codes through the Merc system (I forget what it's called). They then wanted to test the electronics manually which I couldn't authorise at the time as I had a medical appointment and then they must've been pissed as I had a voicemail two days later telling me that we should go our 'separate ways', presumably because I hadn't rebooked back in yet. It could mean they opened the bonnet & yes, there is an EGR installed.

I have made an appointment at another Merc dealer but I am curious.

Thanks. I had a look myself and there doesn't appear anything obvious to my eye. I'm not sure why everyone is being a smart arse. I only asked for views.

Who is this "everyone"?You have had 2 replies from people who clearly know what they are talking about, asking perfectly reasonable questions that (when answered) make us stand a far better chance of helping further.
Guess what.
I'm out.
