RV8 Emerald set up
Discussion
I've got a dissy based emerald setup on the chim and im looking to swap this on to the tuscan moving to a distributor less system.
one question i've got,on the standard 14cux and the current emerald system the injectors are set to fire in batches of 4 using 2 of the injector drivers ( 4 injecters per driver)
now the pin out sheet emerald have given me for an rv8 dissy less system ( no diagram)
uses 4 of the injector drivers ( 2 injectors per driver) now i cant see any settings about this in the software so is there any change i need to make to the mapping
(other than the injector output staying at grouped as it is currently)
Also can some one explain the theory behind how the coil packs work?
currently i've got a pair of cerb coil packs..
these have 4 input pins and 4 outputs ( i.e. drive 4 plugs)
no I believe these a paired
and you connect 2 injection drivers to each coil pack. each driver working 1 pair on the coil pack
they are paired
1&6
5&8
4&7
2&3
the same as the injectors for the firing order 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2
does it simply fire a spark down both leads (i.e. 1&6) when its triggered or does it do them in sequence? is this whats called wasted spark?
cheers

i dont know about your injectors, but the wasted spark is where the coil does indeed fire a spark down two leads at the same time. The 'wasted' spark is firing a plug in a cylinder which is on its exhaust stroke. This is what i run on my omex set up at present, along with paired rather than the banked injectors you mention

You're quite right the coils are 'double ended' and so deliver a spark to 2 plugs at the same time, whihc leads to one of them sparking in a cylinder full of air / spent gases hence the 'wasted' term.
I've got this set-up on my wedge and it works a treat, I think the pin outs are +ve, -ve for left to right with the 1st pair firing that coil, ( the pack will have a double hump in it) these are the 2 seperate coils so it should be easy to idcentify which plug post is for which coil
