Hi

A colleague has a 7 year old Corsa 1.2
A week ago he told me that the engine would not take any revs when under load, ie at a traffic light the engine will nearly stall.
My though at this time, were that there is a blockage in the fuel line or a problem with the air intake

We had a look at the air filter, and cleaned it, and still doing it.
He changed the spark plugs, and the battery and the engine is still spluttering.
He added REDEX and no change.

Having checked the obvious and not knowing this engine very well, I don't really what else can it be.
This is why I'm calling on the knowledge of PistonHeads reader's.

Thank again

Jack

Crank position sensor?, get it to a garage who can check the engine management fault codes.

try changing the plug wires (assuming it has them - not coil on plug)

The HT leads and spark plugs have been.
And the car is still doing the same

Why would the crank position sensor, make the engine splutter

i am a diagnostic engineer if it was the crank sensor the engine would most probably not run at all i would firstly suspect an exhaust blockage perhaps the cat has broken up and is restricting gas flow let me know if you need any further advice

hi, just wondering if you've managed to solve the engine spluttering problem? I have a '97 renault clio rl paris and it's doing the same, the engine dips and flutters when at lights etc and on occasions it has cut out entirely. We tried changing the fuel pump relays but they were fine, and also cleaned the carb with some carb cleaner spray but its still fluttering.

Be great to find out if you've sorted it out? cheers

Well, he changed fuel for 95 to 98 and it seems it cleared it self.
I haven't got any more news than that
