There is a fault with your engine managment system! You need to have the fault codes read by a VAG service centre or get the nessacary lead from ebay and then download the software fron the internet (GOOGLE: VAG COM!) and find the fault yourself.

yes

Probably something minor, but worth getting it checked out.

I used this lead

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-VAG-COM-409. It took 3 days to arrive and the software is available here

www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/download/.

I used ver 409 and it worked a treat.

Yep - its just a generic "check engine" light, meaning the ECU has logged a fault. No way to tell what the actual fault is without interrogating the ECU to determine the fault code(s) and then looking them up to see what they mean.

Its the secondary fault light, all cars have 2, there will be a red one which is the major fault light (Car will probably not run or go into limp home mode).

You need to get the fault codes checked as has been said.

I have one of those too, it comes up sometimes when I park the car after driving for a little while. However, it is pretty rare and usually is off when I start the car again, or shortly after I pull away...

Is it the same for yours or is it just on constantly?

Leaded race fuel ? or unleaded ?

That was my thoughts. The fuel may have had an affect on the lambda sensor and caused an out of range result that the ECU doesn't like. The VAG group cars normally put the light out themselves if the fault is cured, but still store the fault code for retrieval later.

If you have used leaded fuel then it is likely that the lambda probe is kaputt.

It will erase over time depending on the fault registered.
