Hi,
I had this in general but was suggested I put it in here

I have a Mk3 Cortina I am wanting to drop a 2.0 DOHC into it as the present lump is no good. Would it be best to go for carb or injection, I'm an old fashioned carb man, like the sound but if injection is better mpg, performance etc I will go for that.
It has also been suggested that a 3.0 cologne would be better.

Cheers for the advice
Mark

2.9 cologne the 3.0 is an essex however the 2.9 has a very simple wiring loom and gives 150bhp good choice the 2.8's have an issue with big end bearings and is a lot noisier than the 2.9

Are you talking standard or aftermarket carbs/injection?

injection every time, it's more reliable, more accurate, easy to tune, more powerful, more economical, cheaper to setup (to get similar results.

Carbs are fine though if that's your thing

use the 2.9 from a 1992-> ford granada (hydraulic tappets). just lose the cat off the exhaust and all will be well.
you will need a 2.8 capri/sierra/granada manual box

Thanks DrDeAtH sounds like a plan - looking at getting a donor grandad so I can get all the ancillary equipment. Was wondering about the FWD to RWD but you answered that as well. Just need to update the brakes then as I will have the power to go, need it to stop as well
