Can anyone help? I'v got a dax rush with a cossy lump in it, the problem is once it's warm and the oil pressures settled down its only at 2 bar.
Is this the normal oil pressure and am i worrying about nothing. When it's cold it holds at 5-6 bar for around 20mins before it settles once warm

Many thanks
Darran

Don't worry unless it goes below 1 bar

Is this on tick over or when revving? I would start to worry about it being this low even on tick over when it's hot, if it's when you are revving the engine it doesn't sound good.
What oil are you using?

No if its 2 bar at tickover thats 28/29 psi and thats fine. Our 3 dr Sierra Cossie ran at 27psi

it seem's to hold at 2 bar on tick over climbing slightly to 2.5 when it's reved.
Thanks for the advice

Does that make it OK then?

Although it should be alright, it seems a tad low to me, what's the history of the engine?

Ours ran at that, after a fresh rebuild and new oil pump, for five years and never changed. If your oil pressure is low the tappets go noisey.

What oil do you run?, I found that the new (well it was 6years ago) mobile 1 was too runny and thus couldn't maintain as good an oil pressure as with the Castrol RS I switched to.

We used Castrol RS or Valvoline SynPower

it's fresh from a full rebuild, i'm running it in at the mo and it's just got castrol oil in it until i'v done the required mileage. the last engine suffered a seized bottom end so i'm just a bit paranoid of all things to do with lubricant i think.

I cant see a problem with 2 bar at all, the switch probably cuts in way below that anyway.

I spoke to an engine builder back about 15 years ago and when i asked him about oil pressure his advice was that 5 psi of quality oil is better than 25 psi of bad oil.
