It looks as thought I might need a new downpipe on my Clio Williams. I am getting it looked at over the weekend to see if I can get it welded, but if not..

Somebody over at the Clio Williams website brought up the parts code and price from Renault - £217.30 +VAT?!?! My that is a lot..

I hear about whole 'custom' systems being made for around £250-300. Does any have experience of this, and are the places likely to do me a downpipe only, or are they going to want to do a full system?

Cheers, Greg.

Well, I know all the local Powerflow dealers near me are crap.
Low quality stainless pipe, not mandrel bent, and i'll say it again...crap.

Most places will do whatever you ask of them. A full stainless custom jobbie will be expensive, unless they have some off the shelf gear that fits. They may need the car though, to measure up etc to see what they need to make.

Slinks does that taper on the output of the tail pipe help confused. The single exit pipe does seem to have the 2 stroke bomb shape to it, which the lip is part of, but I understood the pipe is best left flared outwards or just straight cut at the sweet point confused.

Yes I'm looking into exhaust designs at present

Harry, have a look into Pro-Stock exhausts, the cone is hiding a merged collector and apparently the lip provides better performance at high RPM.. a shame we rev limit at 6.5k, but at that point it really is starting to pull hard, something it didn't do with the old headers..

This lot seem to have a good rep - www.mijperformance.com/

As do Haywood and Scott in Basildon, Essex.

Blueflame do exhausts too...

... and for Renaults, there's www.k-tecracing.com/

Hi - thanks for this! I dont think I've heard of them before (maybe with a different name) despite being very local but will definitely contact them.

Thanks for other replies too, every little helps.

Cheers, Greg.
