need a bit info from those in the know. i in the process of getting a boat that is fitted with a 350 chevy v8. now at 5.7 liters this is going to be sore on fuel. so,

lpg,

i found the main components to a system

mixer (carb),
Regulator
fuel cut off valve,
fuel tank

Q1, is it matter of conecting the tank to the cut off vale to the regulator to the carb/mixer/

Q2, fuel tank, can i use a standard propane gas bottle, for ease of refilling.

i do know that i will need (well i don't know if i legaly need to but for my own safety) to get it certified, but i intend to do as much as i can,

would welcome any other advice on the subject,

Pigeon

You can't use a standard propane bottle (well you could turn it upside down I suppose) as you need to draw liquid rather than gaseous propane off. For an engine that size the tank can't absorb heat fast enough to vaporise the propane as fast as the engine uses it so you draw off liquid propane and feed it to a vaporiser that works off exhaust heat. You then pass gaseous propane to the metering/mixing department.

Slight correction, the vaporiser is usually heated using the (hot) coolant stream from the engine.

here's a good website: www.go-lpg.co.uk

The direct link to their forum is www.lpgforum.co.uk

Hope this helps.

Petrol in boats is not a good combination but gas in a boat would scare me.
