I have had my brothers Caterham on trickle charge for a couple of months, but just in the last week the battery is getting really hot and smells of Eggs / Acid, I have checked the levels and topped it up but still really hot and smelly, sounds like it is Bubbling inside aswell. Do you think the Battery is Knackered ????? any replies welcome

Trickle charge for months!? or is it on a battery conditioner?

Take it off charge now as it could go bang and shower battery acid everywhere.

Then in slower time you can tell us what type of charger it is and what settings you had it on. Also what make and type of battery it is.

It is a Varta Battery, the Charger / Conditioner is from Halfrauds, charges until Battery is charged and then switches to Maintenance mode. Does this sound right. ?

I'm thinking the biggest problem is the battery, Vartas are junk.
