1996 fiesta 1.25 problem

hi, i have a 1.25 1996 fiesta and i had to change the battery the other day coz it went flat, totaly... since then it has a problem with power. its lumpy and hesitates when cold but is fine when warmed up but only if poodleing about. go up a hill and put your foot down a bit more and instead of puuling like it used to it holds you back. i did it the other day so much so i lurched forward in my seat. what could it be???? i thought it may be the oxygen sensor, any ideas??????

Could be, the ECU might have gone into limp mode, although thats less likley. The crank sensor might be faulty too.

Also have you checked your spark plugs, sometimes its the simple things.
