Ok, first an appologie as I know we are all supposed to be petrol heads, not diesel heads! But, i have a freind who owns a Diesel 1.9 turbo Passat, its the TD version, not the TDI.

The car runs fine and from cold it will start fine but once it is warm if he stops it then tries to restart, its very difficult to start when warm. I have no idea when it comes to Diesels,If anyone can help me out I'd be very grateful.

Thanks in advance,

Scott

air leak in the fuel supply ?

has the filter been changed recently ?

Does it not start, or just very difficult to start ?

Sometimes if the fuel can drain back from the filter head due to a dodgy seal, you will ahve problems starting.

Diesels do not like one bit of air in their fuel supply. Its easier for the pump to draw air, than fuel....except it wont start on air !!

Is the fuel line from filter to pump clear ? can you see any air bubbles in it ?
