Hi all,i'm trying to get hold of an earlyish tuscan(not racer) close ratio box.I had one of these before(2002 model) and know it has the ratio's i'm looking for.I've contacted breakers and found that they can no longer rely on the fact that the box has a tag with 'cr' marked on it,and they need me to give them the code i'm looking for in order to ensure they supply the right one!.I'd like to know what the code for this box is please, any ideas?

The T5 box afaik fitted to TVR's is the T240 but don't know how you distinguish between CR and standard. Might be worth speaking to someone like Bernie the box at www.gearboxman.co.uk/index.html, they normally exchange boxes or sell the internals but they may have spare one for sale too, worth asking.

According to this site the Tag is the only was to identify the boxes hehe www.5speeds.com/t5/index.html
At least it confirms the TVR box is the 1352-240 for the early 4.3 Griff and I don't think TVR change much in between, although it does say that the 1352-248 is also a TVR box confused. Speak to Bernie.

You might find this link helpful, it has the ratios by application and also a workshop manual for the T5.

Considering that the 4.3 Griff never had a T5 - LT77s were used - not totally convinced on the reliability of the info. One important variable is the gear shift position which is usually on the end of the box but the TVR versions have it about 8 inches further forward. The output splines also varied.

Bernie does an uprated CR gear set for the T5 if all elese fails. Could well be cheaper and easier than searching for one.

Hence the 'Speak to Bernie' at the end. Like a lot of things TVR it's only when they are taken apart do you really know what's inside hehe.
