Fiesta Encore 1999 model engine revving problem
Discussion
Ford Fiesta Encore 1999 model 1.3cc
Hi
Have just bought this car for my daughter. Drives fine. Engine idles ok when stationary but when car is driven and comes to a halt engine takes longer than normal (maybe up to 4-5 seconds) for its revs to drop to normal tick-over, it actually seems to rev up and down quite a few times as if the engine is "puffing and panting!" before calming down.
I have been told it is the TPS (throttle positioning sensor).
Any advice please
John

Could be the TPS, I'd be inclined to check the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve), as its not uncommon for them to fail on Sigma engines. The one on my Focus has been known to 'hunt' on occasions with the revs fluctuating between 600-1000rpm after a hot start until you prod the throttle
The first thing to do would be to whip off each one, give it a good clean with carb cleaner, put it back and see if it makes any difference
