The works van has an annoying problem, whilst pottering about town the clutch is fine working as normal. However after 20 minutes on the motorway it goes straight to the floor when the need to change gear arises. After pumping the clutch pedal all returns to normal, only to do the same thing again after 10 minutes on the motorway. Once off the motorway it returns to normal.
Its had a new slave cylinder to go joy, any ideas folks?
The van is a Transit Connect 03 plate with 90K on the clock mainly motorway miles
Cheers

It's the master cylinder probably if you changed the slave.

The RX8 has a known issue which is similar. The tech advisory says it's apparently due to the use of ethanol in the build process which expands when heated and limits the travel of the slave piston. Their fix is to dismantle and clean up. Could be worth a try.

At the same time, flush the clutch fluid as if the fluid is full of water it could be boiling. Thinking about this though - why would it be getting that hot on a motorway run (I only have the problem with my RX8 after a track session) - do the lines run close to the exhaust manifold? Is the gearbox oil level right?
