Turbo noise sprinter 310

Hi guys, just wondered if anyone could tell me what could be wrong....

the turbo noise is a lot louder than it used to be- it sounds like a bloody whistling kettle. i have had all the hoses off today, but none appear to be deteriorated or loose. i sprayed round the intake manifold and all appears to be airtight there. the intercooler looks to be sound as there are no signs of oil mist on it
the EGR valve did look a bit oily though

any ideas?

could well be bent turbine blades, this could happen if a bit of debris gets in the turbo. Nothing much you can do about it unfortunately. Not catastrophic, just learn to live eith it!

not sure its that,its never run with the airbox open, and the filter was ok when checked.

any other ideas?

Noisy bearings???
Split in the turbo's inlet pipe; are you sure there is a filter in the air box?

Pull the inlet pipe off the turbo & check see if there is any play in the shaft- obviously not when the engine is running!

You probably have a leak on the high pressure side.

Check all the rubber hoses are tight and thee are no splits etc

Also check the intercooler for damage or cracks.

all the hoses have been off, cleaned, checked and put back tightly. turbo to intercooler hose was very soft so replaced it anyway. no change

Does the noise increase in pitch as the revs of the turbo increase or is it constant through out.

If it does increase in pitch then it’s likely to be mechanical e.g. bearings or as suggested damaged fins etc..

If it’s constant..... Well sorry don't have a clue

It turns out to be the EGR Valve gasket..... cost a pound to fix....
