When some custom build cars use trip switches instead of fuses, are they an automotive style one or is it a general industrial style trip?

Slight confusion here. Title says fuses, post says relays.
You would not use a trip in place of a relay as a relay is there to carry a load.
I have not seen automotive trips in place of fuses nor can I see the need for them. If a circuit is designed/specified well then the fuse should never blow unless a fault develops.

I've seen thermal trip type fusible wire used before (on a 1975 Harley)

Sorry, edited my post.

Are these not used on modern rally cars nowdays due to the small size of the new ones and for ease of use?

I could just get a basic MK1 escort loom for the car but I want to do it all a bit different.

Except it is easy to see if a trip has switched and a pain to see if a fuse has blown. The "properly designed circuits don't need trips" line rather ignores the whole reason for having any kind of overload cut-out in the first place ... i.e. they are for when a properly designed circuit stops working properly.

Looks like Demon Tweeks do them. At £27 a shot they can keep them.
They do a box for them as well.

Found these elsewhere. Blade fuses that light up when they are blown. I think these are a much better option.

And i used them in a Mini build i did quite a few years ago, but i only used the trip for the fuel pump's. seemed pointless for anything else.

I used ETA circuit breakers rather than fuses, they can also be used as the switch which negates the need for a relay. They are common on planes and military vehicles. I picked most of mine up on ebay for a couple of pounds a piece.

Handy if you are racing, you take do a quick risk assessment and bang it back in to finish a race.

This sounds like what I want.

It's for a drag car that will be used on the road.
