mk2 Polo misfire?

Hi, i bought an 88 mk2 polo about a week ok and after sortin various minor niggels assiated with a 20 year old car thats sat under a tree for a bit ( apparantly it had anywho) she ran sweet as a nut, until yesterday.
its started to misfire, througth all gears, from cold and when the engines warmed up, it juders, and not being mechanical i don't know exactly what it is.
My dad is so i phoned him and he thinks its the same thing, the HT leads, but with him working away atm i can't be certain.
i think its an ignition problem, but has anyone had this problem on a mk 2 polo and/or can someone enlighten me a little, would be much apprchiated.
