Whilst checking my HT leads for corrosion, i found out they had indeed corroded - one broke off inthe coil pack! So I am getting an new pack and 4 leads in the morning, will it be a quick job?

Its on a Lupo GTI, AVY engine. Never changed one before, just wondering if i should leave the whole afternoon free!

Cheers,

Tom

Never worked on that engine, but usually a 5 minute job.

Excellent. This part corroding is a common fault, would it be ok to whack some WD-40 on the connections on the coil pack end, and then put some vaseline around the rubber bit to lock moisture out?

Yeah, that would work. Always worth a squirt of WD40 around the bolts the day before you do it too, as the manufacturers don't bother making anything last more than 5 years now anyway.

Only use wd to release bolts, when you replace the bolts a tiny smidge of grease on the threads to stop them corroding.

I wouldn't wd the connector, just clean both parts of it up, by all means use a little vaseline or silicon to keep water out, but the boot shouldbe tight enough anyway.
