Has this conversion been done, are there any companies specialising in this conversion?

Why would you substitute a Jap 16valve for a Euro 16Valve? the Zetec is hardly a powerhouse.

I wouldn't go down that route and I don't know of anyone who has done it. Plenty info on the net about V8's in MX5's if you fancy.

I thought the current MX5 had a relative of the Ford Duratec?, the 2.0 duretec is easily uprated to around 200bhp. Its a newer design and better in standard for than Zetec...

Practical Performance Car did an MX5 guide a while back. From memory they said the Mazda engines didn't respond well to 'normal' tuning (porting, etc) but did like the old forced induction. Believe that's a well-trod path so may be less hastle.

There is/was (havent see it for a while) an MX-5 buzzing around Northern Ireland with an SX 200 turbo engine in it, seems pretty quick
