Hydraulic Tappets
Discussion
Needing a bit of a procedure guys.
The hydraulic tappets in my Cavalier Turbo 4x4 (C20LET) are rather noisey these days when you start her up from cold. I can buy a replacement set for her, but I am not sure 100% sure how to get them put in.
Here is what I know so far.
1: Timing Belt off.
2: Cam cover off.
3: Cam shafts out
4: With a sucker, remove old tappets.
5: Drop new tappets in.
6: rebuild is opposite of removal.
I need aconfirmation that I am correct or any alterations that I should make to that procedure.

Assuming these tappets are cam followers, it is usually a very bad idea to replace the followers without also replacing the cam (and vice versa). The two wearing surfaces bed in together and if you replace just one side they will then both wear badly.
that may apply to crappy old cams/tappets.Most modern bucket followers can be renewed without worry.

if only all OHC engines used this design, majority of jap bike engines do that pretty much sums it up,thats with the shim under the bucket rather than on top
