engine out nightmare
Discussion
Hi all I have put a rover kv6 engine into an mgb, I have a tricky issue with the clutch I have had to use the rover slave cylinder which sits in the bellhousing, I am using a ford type nine gearbox it hasnt been a walk
in the park. The car runs but there seems to be alot of heat beening genrated
which
caused the clutch fluid to boil and has blown the seal on the slave cylinder this means the engine has to come out does anyone know of a heavy duty slave cylinder for the kv6 engine.
Thanks Matt.

If the cylinder uses a regular round o-ring you can replace with a viton rubber one as these will stand higher temps and pressures also if you were to drill some holes the bell-housing to get some airflow in there and make a solid clutch line which has few 'pig-tail' coils in it before going to the flexible hose this will give a bit of a radiator for the clutch fluid. Plus use dot 5.1 fluid as well?

As above use dot 5.1
Is the clutch ok? not dragging / holding on thus building up heat?
How close does the exhaust run to the gearbox / slave cylinder, would some lagging help, or maybe the sledge to hammer the tunnel out slightly to allow more air space to carry the exhaust heat away ?
How have you converted the bell housing from ford to rover? if it is a plate, is this close to the exhaust.
If all else fails, convert it to a side pipe!
