I have just reposition my charge cooler on my car, got it all back together and I am trying to bleed the system.

Very abnormal. Take the degas bottle off and pour in more coolant. Your system needs bleeding.

What car are we talking about (couldn't work it out from profile)

The pump could be cavitating - i.e. air in the system. Try forcing some water around the system (blow it round or force feed water in) - remember you will need antifreeze in it.

if need be...install an air bleed each of the highest parts in the system,, where air might get trapped.

And on the off chance....can you remotely test the pump ?

The car is the mid engined polo.

Thanks for all your replies. I will try to force the coolant round the system tomorrow.

It would be a big job to remove the pump to remotley test it but if nothing else works I will have to give it a go.

I'd whip a pipe off, manually fill the charge cooler with coolant via gravity, reconnect, then test. If it still doesn't work try taking the car for a drive. I have had hundreds of cars with airlocks that wouldn't shift until the car was driven.

If you do drive it, be a bit brutal on the brakes, acceleration (be careful as it's a boosted motor with a temporary lack of intercooling) and cornering. You'll know when you've shifted the airlock as the temperature will suddenly drop. I've had a load of cars over the years that've required the momentum of a volume of water to shift the airlock when all else fails.

It's possible that by moving the cooler you've changed the geometry enough to change how the system is bled and have introduced a problem. You will have to work out how air in the system gets bled out; depending how it's arranged this may require bleeding the system in several places or slackening hoses off to allow air out.

got the system bled this aft. In the end was quite a simple job.

Just used the method of elevating the feed .

Thanks for the help.

You'd be well off trying to get a degassing system in because this will perennially be a problem and risk detonation or at best a severe drop in power.

Last winter got the rods piston crank and new turbo injectors etc and this winter got a new inlet maniold, throttle body and some other little bits n bobs. Last year it made 437 bhp hoping to see 450/460 this year running a bit more boost.

Well its now 1900cc with forged crank rods valves pistons, 630cc injectors owens development turbo ,large port sem inlet manifold 80mm throtle body etc still running the jabba cast manifold as next year I hope to go balls out with a new manifold gt35 turbo squential box the lot. All depends on a few things and if I keep the 350t or not.

Such huge TB's baffle me.

How big is your IC plumbing ? Excessively large TB's only offer reduced throttle control. Even more so on turbo applications.

Steve I know I asked on here about a big throttle body and took your views on board and going to stick with my original, but then started reading posts on a usa forum where they were making better power using a 80mm TB. In the end though it was far easier to get this throttle body to work so that kind of change my mind.

I was suprised to find the driving around town and part throttle isnt much differnt than the original. Plus the fact that my car rarely gets used on the road and mainly on the drag strip etc where I am at full throttle .
