I want to replace a 12mm thread three wire (White Red Black) Narrow band oxygen sensor marked SAGEM NTK Japan fitted to a Griff with a 18mm mounting type. So far I have not been able to make a lot of sense of data found on the web. A popular narrow band part seems to be the Bosche LSF4 but I think tht is a 4 wire device with two heater wires. Can anybody throw any light on this, why are there two hater wires on some and not on others ?

All heated sensors have at least 2 wires for the heater.

4 wirees have 2 for heater, 1 for signal, and 1 for a reference ground.

3 wire, 2 for heater, 1 for signal, using chassis ground as the reference.

So assuming your sensor is a typical 3 wire...then any universal 3 wire sensor should do.

The heaters just get fed from your main or fuel relay, you can wire them however you want? If you're sticking another ecu in its just yet one more loom change, you could stick 5 wires to each bank in the loom to future proof it? hehe

As well as the correct number of wires, make sure you get the correct type of narrow band; titania and zirconia sensors are not compatible.

If this is the Rover engine then they probably are titania. Rover were pretty much alone in using them. I believe they also have a different thread size.
