ECU for Vauxhall Corsa
Discussion
Hey guys, I've got an 04 Vauxhall Corsa 998cc and a few weeks ago when I came to start the car it wouldn't. I took it to my local vauxhall garage and they told me that I need a new fusebox and a new ECU, quoting me £1000 to fix it. I'm just asking for advice if this sounds reasonable or not?
I was told the fusebox had been short-circuting which had caused the damage to the ECU. They said it was £500 + VAT for a new one and £47 for a new fusebox, the rest labour.
Is there any way I can get this done any cheaper? Like getting a used ECU and/or fusebox? or getting the ECU repaired?
Thanks

The Ecu's are coded to the car as far a I am aware...so that rules out a used unit.
The Ecu's are purchased new from the dealer...who then program them for your car......if they are actually able to do that ( which can be a lottery )
There are companies such as BBA ( I think thats the name ) who can repair ecu's...depending on the damage.
But that is a pretty wild diagnosis, I would seriously get a second opinion unless you fully trust them.
Preferably a second opinion from a trustworthy non-dealer affiliated mechanic.
