I'm going to build a trackday special and the engine I've always really really had the hots for is a 4 rotor on the lines of the 787B.

Done the usual searches but have not come with much.

Yes I do know it would be a difficult and troublesome choice, but I'm a difficult sort of chap.......

Anybody know of a potential supplier? Website anywhere?

Worth giving Hayward Rotary (Newbury way): http://www.mazdarotary.co.uk/

Carl's one of the most experienced in the country and has built a few 4-rotors. He also does some interesting work with triples from 'normal' to shoecial short-crank.

Pip gardner in Northwich (WGT) is also excellent but I don;t think he's build a 4-rotor.

Something like this is unlikely to be a cheap option but I've always fancied something like an Ultima GTR with an n/a quad rotor in there...

Many thanks - if the 4 rotor is insane money then a 3 rotor turbo could be quite jolly.

Car is to be a modified Ultima or better still a Prosport.

It's the NOISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Definately talk to Carl he may have mentioned a similar project to me last year ;p

Also - pop over to www.mazdarotaryclub.com... lots of info and people over there to talk to about all things non-reciprocating.

There are a few triple rotor FDs around. They can make huge power with very little boost.

Not sure how much n/a engines are making - EFI is often the biggest challenge as I'm not sure there are many options available for the tuners other than extremely expensive Motec offerings.

I've heard a quad on carbs and it's awesome.

Looking at changing the software on our S6 so we can run rotary's. No reason why it would not physically run a 3 rotor. Just need to get leading and trailing tables and base code in there.

IIRC one of the motecs can support a tripl with no issues... it's the quad that I think makes it more tricky.

No clue on the price - you'd have to have a chat with someone like RE:Worx et al.

Called in to see Carl Hayward today - most impressed. Loads of interesting stuff..........

Bad news: no hope of silencing the 4 rotor n/a enough for trackdays or road. (Guess its a bit long for mid engine setup anyway)

Good news: all seems possible with the 3 rotor turbo.

Sensible thought: 450 horse 2 rotor turbo in 750kg car.

Bonkers thought: 800 horse 3 rotor turbo in an 800kg car - eekeekeek

Carl gave me a quick call to say thanks about the name drop smile He seemed quite enthused about the potentials for the project!

3-rotor with a decent sized single, biggish porting and lots of cooling would be awesome.

Rusti, this would be a nice chassis for the triple rotor trubo to slot into...

http://www.superlitecars.com/coupe_spec.html

they have had BBCs in there so should fit no problems! smile
