Yesterday my car was running fine. Today went to start it and it would just run for about 4 secs and cut out. I have been trying to solve the problem all day but still cant get it to run. I have fuel pressure the injectors are firing , tried new plugs and the coil packs seem ok as the plugs are sparking etc. The crank trigger is ok.
The engine is a vw 1.8 20v turbo

Getting stable rpm signal ? ( ie, confirmed good crank and cam signal )
Confirmed good spark at all 4 cylinders, at an appropriate time ? ( check with strobe light )
Are plugs wet or dry ?
Has ecu map changed from when it was running ?
When it does start...assume engine is cold ? how does it run ? fast, slow, rough ?
Have you confirmed power to fuel pump throughout ?

Yes
Map the same
Plugs dry
When the engine runs for a few secs I would say it runs ok but a little rich ( tried backing the fuel off on the laptop)
I havent confirmed power but I have got good fuel pressure.
