alternator troubles
Discussion
Alright chaps,
Auto electrics was never my strong point, so i was wondering if i could get away with this.
My flatmate has a Pugeot diesel estate, 1.9 turbo. and as far as im aware the alternator on his is a 80amp item..
will i be able to get away with fitting a 70amp one off a naturally aspirated model of the same year/engine size. The only difference is one is from a turbo and one is not. This is just temporary as we have one in the cellar, and need to get something sorted just for now. Im currently at work so can't inspect them properly till i get home.
any help would be appreciated.

Yes you can get away with that as a temporary fix. Chances are you can get away with it permanently and never notice the difference.
Excellent. I thought it may be ok as he doesn't use air con or anything that would put a real strain on the charging system.cheers for your reply
