wine red or white sir? er no ...its whine..thrust or box?

morning all..sons micra noisey whine push in clutch it goes...more evident pulling away all gears but goes each time clutch is in to change gears still quite when in any gear and rolling with clutch in..assume thrust bearing and not the box.. as i also assume the gears are moving in the box while rolling in the gears with clutch in.. being driven from road wheels am i on the right track... thanks all

If the noise disappears when you push the clutch in then it's the gearbox.

is the gear box not still turning when in gear and rolling, as i thought it would be driven via the wheels..??? even with clutch down
