Funny noise/ boost leek??

Hi guys

I have put a post on the sidc and scooby net but iv had no luck...

I have a 2008 impreza sti 11 hatch and its starting to sound like a farmyard animal on boost! there are 3 different driver settings on the new sti, I (economical driving) Sport (slightly more responsive) and Sport sharp (full boost etcetc) now when in I mode its fine to put your foot down as the boost is low, however on sport and sport sharp as soon as it gets on its way to full boost all the pull/torque stops and you can here an allmost trumpet sound coming from the engine bay, its like a loud air leek noise, i have it booked in at subaru on friday next week however as its my daily driver its pretty anoying never being able to use any power so i dont suppose anyone on here can point me in the direction of what it could be?

my only thoughts are..

Actuator issue?
Recirc valve sticking?
or a pipe come loose?

just wondered if anyone had any more of a clue than my clueless self?

certainly sounds like a leak...but without seeing its hard to tell.

Obviously check all pipewpork, hose clamps, dump valve etc etc

Although it the leak is as big as it sounds....its surprising it isnt affecting ruinning all the time.

Perhaps the vac/boost reference has come off the dump valve ( recirculating type no doubt )

If I remember right, we had one in with the same issues as you, and it was the dump valve that was non-operational. Was a while back though so a bit vague.
