Click stop tappet adjusters
Discussion
I've always thought of them as a pointless waste of time. If the rockers are so worn you can't get an accurate measure with feeler gauges you might want to be thinking about refurbishing the rockers rather than investing in gadgets to measure the wear. Anyway it's hardly rocket surgery to allow an extra couple of thou for rocker wear and if you want a really accurate way to set tappets then do it with a dial gauge on a magnetic base. However tappet settings aren't even that critical you'd ever want to. A couple of thou either way from target isn't going to make a jot of difference to the engine.
PS and no, a click stop wouldn't work on a Pinto engine anyway because the adjuster is under the rocker not on top of it. Nothing in the Pinto valve train wears in the same way as a pushrod type rocker either and the feeler gauge goes between the cam lobe and rocker pad not between the rocker and valve tip so it will always give an accurate indication of the clearance regardless of wear.
