Hi,
My bd kit car broke its propshaft a while back. I know have a new prop, however, I cannot finf the right bolts for it. Its an English axle, but a really early type that has uses nuts and bolts, rather than bolts into the diff flange. Ive found a few general nut and bolt suppliers but I dont know what sort of spec I need, high tensile etc? Any ideas?

Just normal high tensile will be fine. Ideally with a shank through the holes.

As above. I have in the past used bog standard mild steel bolts and never suffered an issue (not exactly super high powered cars mind) if you do go down that route even as a short term measure then make sure you A: carry some spares and tools to fit and B: the prop is in a cage (all production cars do and most kit cars do).

Ordinary high tensile (8.8 / 50 tpi) would be enough, and as stevieturbo says aim to get a grip (unthreaded shoulder) through both flanges. Make sure you torque it correctly.

Thanks for the tips. When it let go I was doing 80 plus, if it hadnt had a cage round it I might be in two parts. Even with one it still cut through the transmission tunnel into the seat area, will be looking to maybe plate up the the sides aswell, Im sure its a once in a lifetime sort of failure but once was more than enough!
