Headgasket bore size - Clyinder bore size question
Discussion
Hello all,
Im currently In the middle of my 3SGTE engine rebuild and through accident I had ordered the wrong size head gasket,my bore size is currently 86mm and will be bored out to 86.5mm, The HG I have should be for 86mm bores,
I need to measure the inside Diameter of bore of the HG to see exactly what size they are, as Im told they are always slightly bigger than the application used for..is this true?
will it be ok to fit it?
cheers

Measure it first, but more than likely it will be fine.Im currently In the middle of my 3SGTE engine rebuild and through accident I had ordered the wrong size head gasket,my bore size is currently 86mm and will be bored out to 86.5mm, The HG I have should be for 86mm bores,

HKS head gaskets are very precise in their measurements. We're putting together a 3S-GTE 2.2 stroker using sleeved bores and 87.5mm custom pistons, (and a GT35R bolted on the side)
. 87.5mm gasket was too close for comfort, so using a 88mm gasket instead.

I once rebiult a Ford D series engine and the Parts dept supplied the wrong size gasket.
Being young and trusting I didn't check and the first I knew was when I had a horrible tapping noise as the piston kissed the metal binding on the gasket.
Cue me working late to do the whole job again
