Afternoon all smile

I don't believe this to be a "problem" as such, but I am very curious as to why the fan (for aircon/heater) significantly speeds up when I put my 06 1.9TDI Polo in reverse gear. It does it every time when I go to park etc, its as if the fan speed jumps up a level. I was experimenting, even when I set the fan speed to max and then select reverse, the fan speed still jumps up a level even though you can't make it go that fast using the speed controls. It does it regardless of temperature setting and whether aircon is on/off. It has done this since I bought it about two years ago, I meant to ask the dealer when it went in for a service but I forgot.

Cheers smile

It switches recirculation on when you select reverse. Listen for it when you use the washers too.

Why on earth does it do that?

If it's like a Touareg then it does it to prevent fumes entering the car as you reverse it into the smoke.
Not that this appears to have been a problem that's needed solving in the last 100 years of the automobile, so... whatever.

Wish I had that in my old Vento TDI, reversing into the driveway was like being fumigated.
