I'm having problems with my BGH box & to prove it's actually the box at fault I was going to do a test by swapping it for a standard Type 9 box & see if the noises disappear.

Trouble is, the spare Type 9 box I have located has the shorter input shaft & the one I have fitted to the car (Westfield) has the long input shaft. Thus I want to get a long shaft gearbox to use as my test box.

Does anybody know what donor vehicle(s) had the long shaft Type 9 box? Thus I can source the right thing from the scrappy.

Cheers
Chris

AFAIK and this is not definitive the boxes fitted to V6 engines had a 32mm longer input shaft than those fitted to the 4 pots. They should all have a 1" diameter 23 spline shaft though.

long shafts were for ford V6 engines (2.8 and 2.3 cologne) as fitted in Granadas and V6 Sierras. The short shaft version was in 4 pot Sierras and granadas.
