Civic Type R clutch (problem?)
Discussion
Hi folks
Hope someone can shine a light on the symptoms I've got with my clutch. I don't know whether it's a problem or not
The car has done around 48K miles. The clutch does not slip and I've always blipped the throttle on down shifts to match engine and transmission revs and hopefully avoid wear. I avoid fast take offs and associated clutch-slipping
The main symptom is that the clutch pedal needs to go right down to the floor to disengage the clutch and bites around 5mm from the floor.
It doesn't bother me and to be honest I actually prefer it like this but worry that it might get worse and mean I can't get the clutch to disengage at all soon.
What could the problem be if it is a problem? Is the travel likely to increase or decrease with more clutch wear?
Many thanks in advance for any help

we had a new clutch put in my honda accord diesel and it bites right at the bottom of the travel. Never did before Honda changed it. There was talk of clutches not being set up right from the factory (diesel cars) and since the new clutch, can't get used to it as it is the only car in the household that it bites there.
Accord had/has the clicking clutch pedal syndrome, that also beset their previous gen too.
Mine has it, and like the OP seems to need a concerted effort to push the pedal all the way to the bulkhead to make sure it disengages.
Has been suggested to change the fluid, but might also be the syncromesh - Honda's known achille's heel.

Just my cents worth, bleed the clutch 1st,the times i have seen cars in with gear crunching problems and inconsistent biting points that are cured by nothing more than a vac out and bleed with fresh fluid,
NO ONE EVER CHANGES CLUTCH FLUID AHHHHHHH
and dealers are the worst culprit

I'd love to give it a try but don't know how it's done. Any online haynes manual type links about?
